There are many traditional Indian sweets that are so time consuming and tedious. On the contrary, there are many which take much lesser time, but are so rewarding. This Godumai halwa is a quick, easier and delicious sweet which will look like million bucks. I got this recipe from here and it is truly an amazing recipe. This halwa has only 4 ingredients and tastes out of the world. I decorated it with a cashew, but that is completely optional. It looked and tasted perfect as is. When I chose the festive theme for BM, the first recipe that came to my mind is this fabulous Halwa..
Ingredients
Whole Wheat Flour - 1/2 cup
Ghee - 1/2 cup
Sugar - 3/4 cup
Water - 1 cup + 1/4 cup
Method
Heat ghee in a non-stick pan
Add wheat flour to the heated ghee
In another pan, heat water over medium flame
Mix flour and ghee very well. It will be watery
Keep the flame on low, stir it continuously
After sometime, you will see the color of the flour changing as it gets cooked and a nice aroma will come
On the other hand, the water must be have come to a boil by now. It is important not to over boil the water as some may evaporate and confuse the ratio
Add sugar and reduce to heat to the minimum possible, or you can even turn off the stove
Add the boiling water and be very careful here to ensure that you do not get burnt as all the ingredients are boiling hot here..
Mix continuously to ensure that there are no lumps and a smooth halwa is formed when all are well blended
After a minute or two of low heat and continuous stirring, the halwa will start to leave the sides and form a glossy shiny mixture with a nice aroma
Remove from heat and transfer to a bowl
Serve
