Capsicum pachadi or raitha is a very simple and refreshing dish. It is a great accompaniment for spicy foods like Biriyani, sambar rice or can be a part of our traditional menu as pachadi..
Ingredients
Capsicum (chopped small ) – 1 small or about ¼ cup
Curd – 1 cup
Curry Leaves - 4
Coriander Leaves – 1 table spoon
Mustard Seeds – ½ tea spoon
Fenugreek Seeds – 5 (optional)
Coconut – ¼ cup
Red Chili – 2
Green Chili - 1
Oil – 1 tea spoon
Salt – ½ tea spoon
Asafetida – a pinch
Method
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds
Once the mustard seeds crackle, add the fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds, red chili, green chili and sauté for 10 seconds
Add curry leaves, asafetida and the capsicum and cook on medium flame for around 2 to 3 minutes or until the capsicum is well sautéed (it should not be mushy or overcooked)
Add coconut, salt and mix well
Remove from heat and allow it to cool and add coriander leaves. Beat the curd with a spoon and add it to the capsicum mixture
Add little water if needed and now the capsicum pachadi / raitha is ready to be served!
