Spiced Pear Chutney

I have never tried to make chutneys from Pear. For me Pear was always a fruit to either eat as is or in a salad.. I saw this in a book (do not remember which one) and was very fascinated by it. It tasted so good and delicious..

Method
Wash and peel the pears. Cut them into 4 lengthy ones. Core them and chop thin slices horizontally and set aside.
Heat oil in a pan on medium and add cumin seeds, red chili and fennel seeds and sauté until the cumin seeds start to brown. Now add the dried fenugreek leaves, asafetida, paprika, turmeric powder and red chili powder and sauté for 15 seconds. Add the pear and salt and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the pear starts to get soft.
Add sugar, honey and vinegar and mix well.
Reduce the heat to medium low (induction – 250, power 2) and cook for 30 minutes stirring very often
By now, the pears would have been soft, caramelized and done.
Remove from heat and the Spiced Pear Chutney is ready..
