Mysore Bonda (மைசூர் போண்டா)

Mysore Bonda is a very famous South Indian snack or tiffin which tastes best when served hot with coconut chutney. Every time I hear or see Mysore Bonda, I remember a joke – “One person ordered Aloo Paratha and he checked if there is aloo inside it and then he orders Mysore Bonda and claims that the waiter has cheated him as there is no Mysore in it”.. I know it is a silly joke… But I always remember this jokeSmile

Ingredients
Ulutham Parupu / Urad Dal – 1 cup
Green chili – 3
Ginger – 1 tea spoon
Curry Leaves – 6
Coriander Leaves – 3 table spoon
Oil – to fry
Salt – ½ tea spoon
Asafetida – 1/8 tea spoon
Water – to make batter + to soak the Ulutham Parupu

Method
Soak Ulutham parupu for 2 hours in lukewarm water and grind adding very very little water
Add green chili, ginger, curry leaves, coriander leaves, asafetida and salt to the ulutham parupu batter
Make round dumplings and fry in hot oil. Dip hand in water before taking the dumpling will help the dumplings come to hand and slide out of hand to oil easily.
Remove from oil once all sides are golden
