Sukku Coffee / Sukku Kappi

Have body pain, sore throat or feeling tired… Here is a remedy… A perfect soothing and very refreshing kaapi. Sukku is dry ginger and has a very distinct and nice aroma and taste… It is also very healthy and has numerous health benefits. I got this recipe from here and made few changes!!

Ingredients
Coriander Seeds - 100 grams
Sukku - 75 grams
Cumin Seeds - 2 table spoons
Thipilli / Long Pepper - 5
Whole Pepper - 1 tea spoon
For the coffee
Water - 2 cups
Sukku powder - 1 1/2 to 2 tea spoons
Panakalkandu - as needed (can use cane sugar or jaggery)
Cardamom - 2

Method
Crush the sukku into small pieces
Dry all the ingredients one by one seperately and allow them to cool
Grind all the roasted ingredients to a fine powder
Store it in an air tight container.

To make the coffee
Bring water to a boil and add the sukku powder and panakalkandu and allow it to simmer for another 3 to 5 minutes
Add cardamom and remove from heat
Filter and serve hot!!!
If you are coffee lover, here is another way
Add 1 table spoon of decoction and 1/4 cup milk to the above coffee and relish it!!!

  9. Aah.. I remember the smell of sukku kappi filling my home and my parents drinking them when they had sore throat.. Love the smell and Kappi.. really healthy too :)
