One of the famous breakfast is Puri and its delicious combo, the masala.. A very simple, quick and easy one to do and tastes so delicious... From wiki - Puri or poori or boori (Hindi पूरी (pūrī), Tamil பூரி (pūri), Kannada (pūri), Oriya (pori), Telugu (pūri)), Turkish:Puf böreği is a unleavened Indian bread made with whole wheat flour, fried in hot oil, commonly consumed in India, Turkey and Bangladesh for breakfast, as a snack or light meal. It can be accompanied with Aloo Masala, Channa Masala, Peas Masala or simply milk.
Ingredients
Wheat Flour (Atta) – 2 Cups
Salt – ½ tea spoon
Oil – To fry
Water – 1 cup
Method
Mix the Wheat flour and salt
Add 2 tea spoons oil and mix it well.
Add water little by little and start kneading and make it to a soft dough.
Keep the dough aside for 10 minutes. Divide the dough into small equal balls.
Roll them with a rolling pin to 1/8th inch thickness (do not make it too thin, then the Puri will not be soft).
Also if you want your puri to be crispy and not puffed, use a fork and prick the puri.
Use the wheat flour (dry) where needed to roll.
Rotate the Puri clockwise to get an even round shape
Heat oil in pan to medium heat
Put the Puri in the oil
It will come up well puffed once put it oil.
Do a little press with the spatula in places it does not puff.
Flip to ensure that the other side is also done.
The Puri will take about 30 – 45 seconds maximum in oil for both the sides together.
Remove from oil and drain excess oil on a newspaper or a paper towel
Serve hot with your favorite side dish.
