Bruschetta (pronounced as brusketta) is an Italian Appetizer which is quick and easy to make. It is an appetizer from Central Italy whose origin dates to at least 15th century. It consists of toasted bread rubbed with garlic and topped with olive oil, salt, and tomato salad. It is a very healthy breakfast consisting salad, toasted bread and very little cheese. The key of tasty and refreshing bruschetta is from its fresh ingredients.
Ingredients
Tomatoes – 2
Garlic – 4 – 5 cloves
Basil – 2 – 3 Leaves
Italian Seasoning – ¼ tea spoon
Salt – ¼ tea spoon
Pepper – ¼ tea spoon
Onion (minced) – ¼ cup
Olive oil – 3 table spoon
French Bread – ½ (Make ½ inch thick slices- 8)
Parmesan Cheese (shredded fine) – 2 table spoon
Method
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F
Brush one side of the French bread with olive oil and keep in the cooking tray with the oil side down
Dice the tomatoes and put it in a mixing bowl
Add finely minced garlic, chopped basil, olive oil, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper and mix well
Add 1 ½ table spoon of the cheese and mix well and set aside for 20 minutes
Toast the bread in the oven for 8 – 10 minutes or until lightly golden
Remove from oven, transfer to the serving plate and top it off with the tomato mixture and sprinkle few cheese on top and serve
