Badam Halwa is very popular sweet in India. It is a rich food and can grace many occasions and festivals with richness and sweet! Main Ingredients are almonds, ghee and sugar and it can be served both hot and cold.
IngredientsBadam / Almonds – 1 ½ cups
Sugar – 1 ¼ cup
Ghee – 8 Table spoons
Cardamom – 4
Saffron – a pinch
Milk – ¼ cup
Food Color – A pinch
Sliced Almonds – 1 tea spoon (optional)
MethodSoak the badam for 3 hours or boil the badam in water for 15 - 20 minutes
Drain all the excess water and allow it to cool and then peel the skin off
Grind peeled badam along with milk – just enough to immerse the badam
Heat a pan and add 2 table spoon ghee and add the badam paste and sugar and still well
Add the saffron and stir continuously to ensure that it does not burn for about 10 minutes
Add 2 more table spoons of ghee and the color and stir well
Add 4 more table spoons of ghee and stir for about 10 more minutes, now the mixture should start to ooze little ghee out and now we know that the mixture is ready
Add the cardamom powder and remove from heat, transfer to a bowl and garnish with little sliced badam (optional)
