Besan Laddu

Besan Laddu is a sweet made with gram flour. It is a very simple and quick food to make and is mouthwatering. The Ingredients for this recipe are in the many pantries. This is also a recipe which does not need much planning or preparation and can be done in less than an hour from start to finish.

Ingredients
Kadalai Maavu / Besan – 1 Cup
Ghee / Clarified Butter– 1/3 Cup + 1 tea spoon
Milk – ½ table spoon
Sugar – 1 Cup
Pistachio / Almonds – 4-5 pieces
Cardamom – 2
Method
Sieve the kadalai maavu and keep aside
Heat ghee in a pan till it is smoking hot and reduce the flame and add the flour and mix it well
Keep stirring it until the color changes a little – this takes around 15 minutes
Once the raw flavor of the channa flour is gone, add cardamom powder
Add sugar and keep stirring the sugar until well blended and the mixture becomes like a parupu usli consistency or a consistency where you know you can make balls. Try taking some in hand (after cooling a bit) and making a ball and if ready switch off the flame and allow it to cool
Put a tea spoon of ghee in a plate
Break the almonds and pistachios into very small pieces and keep in a separate plate
Make balls of the mixture once cool. Dip the top of the balls in the ghee and then to the almond and pistachio- adding ghee will make the almonds and pistachios stick better.
Now the besan laddu is ready to be served!
