Fiber Galore–My Health My Way

Am back with another event after sometime.. This time the focus is again on healthy foods. The theme I have chosen is Fiber rich foods..  The event series My health My way is the brain child of my Kalyani and I am happy to be hosting it.
Fiber is an important part of healthy food. Some of the fiber rich foods are spinach, green vegetables, fruits, whole grain, millets, oats, nuts etc. More details about Fiber rich foods are here

Rules / Guidelines for the event:
1.Event runs from July 16th - August 15th.
2.Cook and blog about a Vegan or Vegetarian dish which is Fiber rich. Eggs are not allowed. Please link the healthy and delicious entries with the help of the linky tool below.
3.Please add this announcement link and Kalyani's Series announcement page. This is compulsory.
4.Adding the logo is not mandatory but helps to spread the word.
5. Please send as many new entries as possible. More the merrier. Please limit the archive entries to 2
6.Non bloggers are also welcome to participate.Send me the following details to nivedhanams@gmail.com
•Your name and name of your blog
•Recipe and URL
•Picture of your dish.(max size is 200 kb)
About the event from Kalyani
1) No refined food is allowed and substitutions are more than welcome : For eg: Wholewheat or wholegrains instead of Maida, Palm sugar or jaggery instead of refined sugar. Olive or even groundnut oils instead of margarine and butter --- u get the drift.
2) Only Vegetarian / Vegan entries are allowed (eggs are not allowed).
3) A small write up on how you make / plan to make healthy changes in your kitchen would be highly appreciated. If you are sending multiple entries, you can truncate this info to a few lines.
4) Special focus can also be provided on usage of millets, wholegrains, vegan substitutes - as this series is not just for kids but a healthy eating lifestyle for the entire family. So diabetic specific cooking, arthritic specific cooking, kidney ailments specific cooking - you can write about all these that you do in your post.
Hope to see many recipes that are fiber rich!!!

It is a monthly event where all of us Food Bloggers from around the world can participate with recipes featuring “legumes”. Here are the rules for the event
unnamed
1. Event runs from 1st May, 2014 – 31st, May 2014
2. Only Vegetarian dishes are allowed.
3. Only One entry per blog
4. Legumes must be the star ingredient

Susan is generously sponsoring a prize and this month it is Lace Beverage Napkins. that she will ship worldwide, at her own expense. If the random winner is a resident of the US, they will win both the Hurst Bean Prize and Susan's offering - otherwise a second draw will take place for the Hurst prize from the pool of US residents
Hurst Beans has agreed to continue as a sponsor meaning US residents have a chance to win a 6-pack assortment of products by the N.K. Hurst Company. For your dish to be included in the roundup, it must contain more than just a few tablespoons of legumes. The slight exception to this are legumes such as fenugreek or tamarind that typically are used in smaller quantities. Fresh or dried beans, lentils, pulses, and the sometimes edible pods that contain these seeds, and derivative products such as tofu or besan, along with tamarind, fenugreek, carob, and peanuts are all acceptable. The possibilities are endless. Just ensure that your shining ingredient is in fact a member of the legume family. All types of cuisines and courses are welcome, so long as the mighty legume is the key ingredient. Recipes from your archives will be accepted if reposted and updated. You may submit your recipe to other events, but please check to see if those hosts have restrictions.
Lisa is looking for guests hosts for 2014. If you are interested, please email her at legume.lisa@gmail.com.
So what are you waiting for?? Prepare yummy dishes and send it to my email ASAP and I will post the roundup in the first week of June along with the winners

Kid’s Delight–Sweet Treats!!

Most of us cook for our family and our choices and recipes are based on what our family likes. If you are like me, who never did any cooking before marriage and all your learning started after marriage, then you would done a lot of trial and errors and the first criticism and appreciation would have come from our hubby. And the kids who are soooooo picky. I know most moms complain that their kids are very picky eaters. My daughter is also the same. She is so picky that she will not even try it if it does not look appealing (not just garnish, but should look like some professionally decorated!!!) and then she will not eat the same thing (even if she loves it) more than 3 times in a MONTH!!! I can just go on… So I need to think so much to make her eat. If we moms could have a BIG LIST of kid friendly dishes that would be a boon.. So let us have all such kid friendly recipes in one place and the theme I have chosen is very easy - Sweet treats!!! Thanks to Valli for letting me guest host her event for this month.
