Tortillas are Mexican flat breads made generally with All purpose flour. This is a very healthy dish which tastes yummy. Generally they are made with all purpose flour, but I am making them with whole wheat flour... You can actually eat this as burritos or serve them with Mexican rice, guacamole, sour cream, cheese and veggie fajita!! It was delicious.. So tempting...
Ingredients
Whole Wheat Flour – 1½ cups
Salt – ½ tea spoon
Turmeric – 1/8 tea spoon
Tomato Paste - 2 table spoons
Water – ¼ cup (or as needed)
Cumin Powder – ½ tea spoon
Basil - 10 leaves
Oil – 3 table spoons
Method
Beat the tomato puree and the finely chopped basil. Add oil, turmeric, salt and cumin powder and mix well
Now add the whole wheat flour and make it to a smooth dough
Coat with few drops of the oil on the dough to smooth it
Roll it to a big sized circle (about 8 inch in diameter) and cook it on both sides on a tawa until well done. You can also cook on direct flame if desired
Keep them in an insulated container until ready to be served. Enjoy them warm.
It can be served like a burrito stuffed with Mexican rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, cheese and fajita!!! Enjoy!!
