A very simple recipe and a mistake makes it one of the toughest to do.. Is that familiar for anybody else??? Or is just me? Today I decided to do this simple and very elegant Mediterranean Dip that is so delicious.. So I referred to a few websites and kind of made my own way... It looked very very simple, add the garbanzo beans, garlic, tahini and few more ingredients and blend.. Man how easy is that.. And yes I made a mess and it was tough to get it right.. But I did manage to make it perfect from a disaster.. So what mistake I did???? SHHHHHH quiet!!! Will tell you at the end...
Method
Soak the garbanzo beans for 8 hours and pressure cook them for 6 - 8 whistles with a tea spoon of salt
Drain excess water and set aside
Roast the sesame seeds until it starts to splutter
Grind it to a paste along with 1 to 2 table spoons of olive oil. Set aside this paste
Once cooled, add the beans, garlic cloves, sesame paste and green chili to a blender with 1/4 tea spoon salt
Blend this to a smooth paste.
Transfer to the serving bowl and drizzle a tea spoon of olive oil and sprinkle few pinches of paprika..
Hummus is now ready to be relished!!!
Ingredients
Garbanzo Beans - 1 cup
Salt - 1 tea spoon + 1/4 tea spoon (adjust to taste)
Lemon Juice - from one lemon
Sesame Seeds - 2 table spoons
Olive Oil - 2 table spoons _ 1 tea spoon
Garlic - 4 cloves
Green Chili - 1 (optional - not in the original ones)
Chili Powder / Paprika - A few pinches

Sesame Seeds - 2 table spoons
Olive Oil - 2 table spoons _ 1 tea spoon

Want to know what I did wrong??? Instead of grinding the sesame and olive oil to a paste and adding the paste to the beans.. I added the sesame seeds directly along with the beans and other ingredients.. So what happens... the sesame seeds will not get grinded easily and instead of 1 minute of grinding, it took me much more time (like 5 times more) and many times of cleaning the sides of the blender.. Finally I got it all blended though... But it was tougher than the regular one....
Hummus looks inviting !
