This is one of the first biscuits I tried.. I remember searching for biscuits recipe and I will always land up in cookies where there were many eggs to begin with.. Then when I searched biscuits without eggs, I landed on this recipe and tried it immediately. The pictures are at least 8 - 10 years old.. So long long ago, so long ago...
Ingredients
All Purpose Flour - 2 cups
Baking Soda - 1/4 tea spoon
Baking Powder - 1 table spoon
Salt - 1 tea spoon
Unsalted Butter - 6 table spoons (cold)
Buttermilk - 1 cup
Method
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F
In a bowl, sieve together flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder
Rub the butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles bread crumbs
Add the buttermilk and mix until combined. Do not over mix
If it appears dry, add a little more of the buttermilk
Turn the dough on to the working board and pat gently (no rolling pin)
Pat it to 1/2 inch thickness
Fold the dough about 4 - 5 times and pat it to 1 inch thickness
Cut it in rounds using a cookie cutter
Place the biscuits on a baking tray with 1 inch apart
Bake for 10 - 12 minutes
It will be golden on top
Remove to a cooling rack
Serve!!!
