Vegan Chocolate cake recipe is a simple and easy cake which has no eggs or dairy products. This recipe is for a single layer cake with no frosting and make a 9 inch round cake. This is a healthier cake when compared to the regular chocolate cake but very hard to tell a difference.
Ingredients
Unbleached All-Purpose Flour – 1 ½ cups
Sugar – 1 Cup
Cocoa Powder – 1/3 Cup
Baking Soda – 1 Tea Spoon
Salt – ½ Tea Spoon
Cold Water – 1 Cup (can use milk instead also)
Vegetable Oil – ½ Cup
Orange Juice – ½ cup
White Vinegar – 3/4 Tea Spoon
Vanilla Extract – 2 Tea Spoon
Walnuts – cut into half – 1 Cup
Method
Pre heat the oven to 350 degrees F
Mix all the dry ingredients such that the flour color is not seen. It will be in chocolate color
Make a hole in between the dry ingredients mix and add all the wet ingredients except vinegar
Mix the above very well to ensure that everything is well blended and mixed. This will be in dark chocolate color with semi solid consistency.
Grease the pan with butter / vegetable oil
Once the oven is ready, add vinegar to the above mixture and you will see the color changed from dark chocolate to light chocolate color in layer. It will look like bournvita added.
Keep mixing it till the previous dark chocolate color is achieved and pour the mixture into the Pan
Bang the pan to the countertop to remove air bubbles. Do it 4 – 5 times
Keep the pan inside the oven.
Check after 17 minutes by inserting a toothpick. It could take up to 30 minutes. It is done if the toothpick comes out clean
Remove from the oven and keep it to cool for at least 10 minutes.
Put a plate on top and invert the cake to the plate.
Do the same again to get the top layer back to the top.
Place it in a cake plate ready to cut.
Cool and eat. Enjoy!
